PE-RT Type II prefabricated direct-buried insulated piping features a three-layer composite structure consisting of a heat-resistant polyethylene (PE-RT II) service pipe, a polyurethane foam insulation layer, and a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) outer casing. Its core advantages include: the PE-RT II material has low thermal conductivity-only 1% that of ordinary steel pipe-providing inherent thermal insulation that effectively minimizes heat loss; under identical operating conditions, it outperforms steel pipe in terms of both heat loss and temperature drop. Furthermore, it completely eliminates the corrosion issues associated with steel pipes, offering an expected service life of up to 50 years-far exceeding that of traditional steel piping-and significantly reducing maintenance and replacement costs over the pipeline network's lifecycle.
The pipes are joined via electro-fusion or hot-melt welding, ensuring joint strength matches that of the pipe body and achieving a reliable, molecular-level seal. Its lightweight and flexible nature greatly enhances transportation and installation efficiency; economic analyses indicate that, compared to traditional insulated steel piping, it offers savings of approximately 15.0% in material costs and about 4.2% in total project costs (including civil works and installation). Designed specifically for the long-term transport of hot water at temperatures below 95°C, the product is suitable for systems such as municipal secondary heating networks, domestic hot water supply, and hot spring pipelines, with a recommended operating pressure of up to 1.0 MPa. Its application and design are supported by standards such as CJ/T 480-2015 and relevant local technical regulations, ensuring a mature, safe, and reliable technology.
