What Are The Applications Of Polyurethane Insulated Pipes?

Polyurethane-insulated pipes are primarily used in long-distance transport scenarios-such as urban district heating, industrial petrochemical operations, district cooling, and municipal engineering-where they significantly reduce energy loss during the transport of the medium. Their core advantage lies in superior thermal insulation performance: the thermal conductivity varies with operating temperature, reaching as low as ≤0.025 W/(m·K) at ambient temperature (approx. 10°C) and meeting a requirement of ≤0.033 W/(m·K) at an operating temperature of 50°C, far outperforming traditional materials.

The outer high-density polyethylene (HDPE) casing offers excellent waterproofing, corrosion resistance, and compressive strength, enabling a design service life of 30 to 50 years. Factory prefabrication and direct-burial installation reduce excavation volume by over 50%, resulting in lower overall costs and shorter construction periods. High-profile projects-such as the Taiyuan-Taigu district heating scheme (a 37.8 km long-distance heating line) and the use of massive 2.4-meter-diameter pipes at a power plant in Liaocheng, Shandong-have demonstrated the system's high efficiency and reliability. It should be noted that this product is designed for large-scale pipeline networks and is not suitable for residential indoor pipe insulation. Manufactured in compliance with national standards such as GB/T 29047-2021, polyurethane-insulated pipes have become an indispensable energy-saving material for modern urban "lifeline" infrastructure.
