In the design of prefabricated hot water insulation pipes for overhead laying and comprehensive pipe galleries, the selection of supports is crucial for the stability, safety, and insulation effect of the pipeline system. Pipe clamp support and welded support are two widely used forms, each with its own applicable scenarios and characteristics.

Pipe clamp support
Scope of application: Mainly applicable to pipelines with a nominal diameter of ≤ DN800.
Bearing principle: The contact area between the support and the outer casing (protective tube) of the pipeline is a key design parameter. The area shall be calculated and determined according to the pipe diameter, the spacing between adjacent supports, the density of polyurethane foam and its radial compression strength and other comprehensive factors to ensure sufficient bearing capacity and pipeline stability.
Thermal insulation performance: Its structural design enables it to provide equally excellent thermal insulation effect as the pipeline body, effectively controlling heat loss during operation, ensuring the thermal efficiency and operational safety of the system.
Scope of application: Mainly applicable to large-diameter pipelines with a nominal diameter greater than DN800.
Bearing principle: to solve the problem of insufficient radial compressive strength of polyurethane foam for large diameter pipes, its core design is to set special support steel plates inside the insulation layer. The load of the pipeline (working pipe) is transmitted to the internal steel plate through the support structure welded to the pipe wall, and then effectively dispersed and transmitted to the external pipe support structure by the steel plate, thereby significantly improving the bearing capacity and overall stability of the support.
Thermal insulation performance: Through careful structural design (such as blocking the thermal bridge formed by internal steel components), the heat loss at the support is minimized while ensuring the safe operation of the pipeline, maintaining the overall insulation efficiency of the pipeline system and supporting higher load-bearing requirements.
