3 Layer Polyethylene Coated Pipe

3 Layer Polyethylene Coated Pipe

Robust three-layer barrier keeps buried steel corrosion-free for decades of service.
High-strength polyethylene jacket withstands impact, soil stress, abrasion and site handling.
Coated in-plant under strict standards, with full batch traceability and test reports.

A 3 layer polyethylene coated pipe is a carbon steel line pipe finished in our plant with an external three-layer polyethylene (3LPE) coating system - an epoxy primer for adhesion, a copolymer adhesive, and a thick polyethylene outer layer. We produce and test every pipe in-house to ISO 21809-1, DIN 30670 or GB/T 23257 as required, and deliver it as a ready-to-bury finished product. With our long experience in pipe manufacturing and coating, we make sure each pipe is built for reliable, long-term buried service.

Product Advantages

Lower whole-life cost

strong corrosion protection reduces cathodic protection demand, coating repairs and maintenance over the pipeline's service life.

Wide supply flexibility

available on ERW, SSAW or LSAW pipe bases in API 5L X42–X80 grades, with coating thickness matched to soil conditions (normal or heavy grade).

Field-friendly design

the tough outer layer tolerates lifting, stacking and backfilling; ends are left clear for welding with simple field-joint coating.

Traceable quality

every 3 layer polyethylene coated pipe is marked with a unique production code linking it to its coating line, date and test record.

Applications

A 3 layer polyethylene coated pipe is widely specified for:

Long-haul oil and natural gas transmission pipelines

Urban gas distribution networks

Municipal water supply and irrigation projects

Petrochemical and industrial underground piping

Cross-country infrastructure programs requiring large volumes of reliably coated pipe

FAQ

Q: How does 3-layer PE coating compare with single-layer FBE?

A: Both protect against corrosion. 3LPE adds a thick polyethylene jacket on top of the epoxy, giving much better resistance to mechanical damage, soil stress and moisture ingress - the standard choice for buried pipelines.

Q: Can we weld coated pipes on site without damaging the coating?

A: Yes. Coating is stopped back from both pipe ends, and after welding the joints are completed with approved field-joint coating or heat-shrink sleeves, which we can supply.

Q: How long can coated pipes be stored outdoors before laying?

A: With end caps fitted and pipes on padded supports, standard 3LPE coating tolerates several months of outdoor storage; we advise limiting direct UV exposure for extended periods.

Q: Can you supply fittings and field-joint materials with the pipes?

A: Yes - matching bends, fittings and field-joint coating kits can be included in the same shipment for a one-stop supply.
